I mean, I'm sure you heard him correctly, but I am also pretty sure he was yanking your chain. He said he thought so, and started talking about how it was a big rip off of W40K. The first 3 main games of the franchise completely reshaped the FPS genre, but today it's mostly a franchise known for being stale and samey even though it's only stale and samey because it built the mold as people know it. People assume the work that inspired that shape and set the mold in place is generic/mediocre, unaware that everything else is just following in its footsteps.Ī great example is the Call of Duty series.
